- SEE SOMETHING? SAY SOMETHING! If you observe suspicious activity in the neighborhood, please report it to the Anne Arundel County Police by calling 911. For non-emergencies, call
the police at 410-222-8050. Do not call the Security Committee, which has no jurisdictionover criminal activity and cannot be expected to respond immediately.
- KEEP YOUR DOORS AND WINDOWS CLEAR OF TREES AND SHRUBBERY so they are visible from the street and to your neighbors
- KEEP YOUR YARD AND HOUSE WELL-LIT AT NIGHT
- Put lights on timers to make it appear the house is occupied when you are not at home
- Install security lights outside your home and leave them on at night
- TELL A TRUSTED FRIEND OR NEIGHBOR when you are going away and arrange for someone to collect your mail and newspapers, but do not make your travel plans well known to
everyone
- CONSIDER INSTALLING A SECURITY SYSTEM from a reputable company
- KEEP YOUR YARD CLEAR OF TOOLS, LADDERS, or anything else that could be used to gain entry to your house
- TAKE NOTICE OF ANYONE YOU DO NOT RECOGNIZE WHO IS LOITERING on the street, sitting in a parked car for a long period of time, or who does anything that seems suspicious to you;
call 911 to report such activity
- IF YOU HAVE A BREAK-IN, FIRST CALL THE POLICE, then contact your next-door neighbors and the CBCIA Security Committee Chair to alert the community to be on the look-out for suspicious activity
- KEEP RECORDS, INCLUDING PHOTOS, of all valuables or expensive belongings, such as electronic equipment and jewelry
- ENSURE THAT VALUABLE ITEMS ARE NOT VISIBLE through your windows
